Michael Vick has signed a 2-year deal with the Philadelphia Eagles this evening. The deal pays the convicted felon $1.6 million the first year with a team option for a second year valued at $5.2 million.  WOW.  Nobody really saw the Eagles as a potential landing spot for the former highest paid player in the NFL, but here we are.  Once Vick is fully reinstated by Commissioner Goodell, the QB will be free to play.  It will be interesting to hear the current Eagles starting quarterback Donovan McNabb’s take on the signing…

More importantly, once that happens, certain members of SwaggerTooth Nation will win the SwaggerTooth T-shirt Give-Away. (I’m looking at you, BrainTrust.  Chea!)

Vick and pup in happier days

  2. In that article it says that McNabb lobbied to get him there. Although, that might just be spin to keep team chemistry. It really does seem like one the last places you’d expect. Mobile quarterback already there; young quarterback (although he’s currently injured, he wasn’t going to be the starter anyway) waiting in the wings, Kevin Kolb; about as good a third-string quarterback as any team probably has in A.J. Feely; I’m not sure what the though process is here, but I, for one, am glad to see that Mr. Vick has made it onto a team and should be playing in the League soon. Oh yeah, I can hold a t-shirt?

  5. The thought process is that Vick will start next year once they cut McNabb. Andy Reid sees in Vick what he saw in McNabb out of college: a mobile QB who he can turn into a real pocket QB. Vick will be the starter next year–you heard it first.

  7. My question is what happens if the first time on the field is together??

Vick is elgible after week 6. Plax wouldn’t be eligible to play before Week 8… that of course is dependent on his arraignment (date set for Aug. 20).

  8. Wow, that’s some great commenting there FSUBetsy…

  9. Vick is eligible BY week 6. I bet he plays before week 4. Plax…I’m almost ready to say we won’t see him until 2011. Almost.

  10. I think PETA will definitely push for the max suspension. It’s doubtful that fans will welcome him with open arms… until he proves a winner… then everything is forgiven. For example, Ray Lewis.

Plax will be in jail for atleast 3.5 years… if they want to make an example out of him, more.

  11. Philly fans are some of the most fickle fans on the face of the earth. After a few practices, they’ll start to embrace Vick. Hell, even PETA only showed up at the complex for his introductory press conference. They haven’t been back since. Goodell won’t let PETA control his league.

Plax is a fool. Sorry Luke.

Hans that’s great, but I don’t buy clothes for my dog…
