It's pretty critical of every aspect of religion, from creationism to dietary laws ("Why Heaven Hates Ham"). Hitchens clearly has a large (dinosaur) bone to pick with religion and faith. Maybe "spiritually inspiring" wasn't the right phrase to use. "Logically inspiring" or "rationally inspiring" I think are better.
